Gay, 48 yo male. I am having second time in the last year unspecified UTI, which presents itself as morning yellowy-greenish discharge, and slight pain in the urethra (without urinating). Urinal STI test and swabs coming back negative for Ghonorea and Chlamydia. Last time I was treated with some antibiotics, and it seemed to went away. This time (9 months later) it came back after unprotected anal sex with my spouse (which is pretty usual) but seems to be not responding to treatment that worked last time. I am allergic to Doxycycline, and was prescribed 7 days Levofloxacin.
My family doctor sent me to the urologist for scoping, but wait times could be months. I did ultrasound that didn't show anything for pelvic area: bladder and prostate. I am wondering if there is another antibiotic I should try to request my family doctor while I wait. I am reading about mGen - another STI that is not commonly tested here in Canada, could this be it? What else it could be?
